" I'll never sing again if my pizza and pasta are not the best in town" - Don Giovanni ( more about that later)

Good day from rainy NYC.... rainy weather makes for cozy vibes, especially in this apartment or inside the fiber of my being. Wrapped in a cozy throw, listening to the steady pitter patter of rain drops, watching out of the window, the wide variety of umbrellas and cooler weather outer wear....the cloudy gray skies. Usually I find myself a lover of sunshine, but right now I'm content with this part of fall weather!
We have been blessed with a weekend that was full of company, lots of talk and laughter and then the accompanying little more laundry loads that go with that! :) But as I stuff the machines full, I recall some very good things!! And so this morning has been busy with laundry and cleaning up the house! I am amused as to how much money gets laundered at this house.... today so far as been $10 dollars. I guess we also like clean money!
Today is Columbus Day and Thanksgiving in Canada, which for the sake of keeping things in the clear, the latter holiday didn't really affect the decision that was made, that all 4 boys go on tract route today and they forsook Lincoln! Roger also went with and the crew was meeting up with Clay at 42nd. Roger sent a audio this morning of the boys singing on the train, " Just as I am" .  The boys must have been in a missionary mindset this morning! 😊
This evening is Tribeca service and eat out supper later, hoping for a good evening!
Last Monday evening, we had another fish fry and was enjoyed! We fried the rest of the fluke and weak fish. All that resides in the freezer, from that fishing trip in some blue fish yet. I added Red lobster biscuits and mac and cheese.
Tuesday afternoon, we made our weekly trek to Lincoln to sing with the guys! Had a wonderful afternoon, meeting many nice friendly people and lots of yes 's....sure you may sing a Gospel song. When we were leaving 1 patients room, the nurse in the hallway, said, this man wants you to sing and he wants, "It is well with my soul ". When we were done, Ron and I caught a train at Grand Concourse for downtown, needing to pick something up from JPT. In the evening was Bowery service.... Spencer picked a lesson on Prayer and led the Bible study. We also sang 10 songs. Ate supper at Da Gennaro and then homeward bound.
Bible study on Wednesday evening, David wrote the lesson, subject title was, " What can we give God?" Attendees were Tony, Peter and Julio. We listened to Julio, as it appeared he needed to talk and unload...it was rather cute when Tony just encouraged him ( Julio ) to keep attending. So we will see what happens and keep praying. Julio talked about his need of wanting a relationship with God, so scared that he is not following God. Sing-out went well. Supper was poppy seed chicken, green beans casserole, marshmallow fluff and bread.
Thursday.... morning of shopping and once home to put it all away! After the guys came home from work, David soon left and went to La Guardia to get his parents, Brent and Vicki Isaac and his sister Samantha. Samantha actually flew in earlier afternoon already, as she came from Nova Scotia, having been on a apple picking crew for 6 weeks. Meanwhile the other 5 of us were enjoying the back yard, eating a super yummy meal of discada! I added sweet black beans. It was chilly outside and jackets were also in order as we sat outside to eat! As we were cleaning up, David brought his relatives home and we enjoyed meeting all of them! Very nice people! 😁 ( As are all the parents!) They left after awhile for supper and evening in the city and other 3 boys went to Macy's. Ron and I took the opportunity to listen to Beatrice Riggs funeral. Earlier in the day, I listened to the memories. I had to chuckle a time or 2 at some of the things told about Beat, too real! 😁
Breakfast for 9 and wonderful fellowship! David and his family, out on the city all day! Ron and I kept ourselves busy with cleaning house and Ron did David's cleaning chores, which was fellowship hall, kitchen and chapel. I got down there to help as he was about done!!!! 😁 Crazy, how that works!! When the guys got home from work, Tyson soon left to meet up with his buddies, Reagan Lehman from Fleetwood and Scott Koehn from Montezuma. Spencer and Shane did their cleaning chores and then us 4 went out for supper.... Bill's burger and bar...Ron and I shared hamburger sliders and sweet potato fries! We then walked over to Staten Island ferry ⛴️, Shane hadn't ridden yet...we caught the 8:00 ferry, once to Staten Island, right away caught the ferry coming back and once again....my favorite scene.......never, never do the lights of the city disappoint, it creates in my heart,  a feeling that I find hard to explain. Is some of that feeling, a desire to see the lights of HOME?? Are we looking for home all along the shores of time? AND the statue of Liberty πŸ—½....bring me your tired, those huddled masses, longing to be free. From there, got off at Penn station and bought some gelato! πŸ˜‹And then homeward bound on a very pokey slow express train....soon Tyson was home and soon David and his family came in as well! Then we all sat and visited...and everyone of us should have been in bed!!
Saturday, we were 11 for breakfast, as Reagan and Scott joined us. They spent the night in a motel, but moved over here for the rest of the stay! No hurry for anyone to go and the visiting went well! 3 recipes of corn bread, 2# of sausage crumbles and 8 cups of milk for gravy! Fruit smoothies also. Brent had the devotions, and he was so impressed, as they toured NY common pantries the day before, how appreciative the people were of the boys! Keep up the good work! Everyone left after awhile, besides Papa and me.... later Spencer and Shane came home....and then us 4 met David and his family at Don Giovanni's for pizza! This the title of this blog! And so we feasted on excellent pizza and know that we have found another wonderful place! David's family went to One World and Spencer, Shane and us 2 walked the High line to Chelsea Market, intending to get some Joey Bats, but they closed at 8 and we were still on the high line, observing the awesome lights on the Empire State. So we chose to come home and had milk shakes at home! Spencer and Shane made Papa and Mama's and they were super good! There has been this shake machine on the coffee bar and alas we thought it just spewed liguid far and wide, but it doesn't!!!! πŸ˜‹ Interesting note, something that rarely happens...we were at 14th station fixing to board a A train for home and when doors opened, there walks out Tyson, Reagan and Scott!!!!!! I repeat, this rarely happens!! We seen 1 am Sunday morning, before the oldsters headed to the bedroom! Good times though. Just saying, guys can eat quite a bit when coming home!
Sunday.... Brent and Vicki in charge of breakfast and did a super good job....in a kitchen they are not used too! Pancakes, bacon, eggs and fruit. Ron and I went downstairs and got the potatoes ready for the oven. We must have been around 34 in church and for lunch. 6 local attendees with one of them being our Jew friend from the Bowery! Judas or Judith??? Our company and then Marcus and Sally Wiebe from Paxton. Marcus is a brother to Kaitlyn. Nice church service.... Roger had the SS opening, Brent the sermon. ( It was also Poughkeepsie Sunday, so Papa, Dayo's, Elizabeth and Josiah joined us. Rueben was home sick, so Bisi and Josh also stayed home. ) Brent spoke about Living Water. And what I thought was very interesting, also spoke about the verse, where Jesus tells Peter, What is that to thee, follow thou me.... And Elmer preached to us last Sunday, that same verse. Ummm....we evidently need it!!! 😊 Lunch was grilled chicken and wedding potatoes.... green salad, bread and apple cake with butter sauce and Dayo had ordered a decorated cake for his wife's birthday.... which was several weeks ago already! Very pretty! I don't think Christianah was amused though, when we sang happy birthday πŸŽ‚!! Kendon's and Marcus's left to go touring.... David's family, Clay's and our boys left on another walking tour. Ron and I chose to stay home, we regarded our lazy boys as best friends for awhile and then I made supper for 5 of us....minus David. Sloppy joes and cookie pizza. Had a great supper hour, later Clay and Dana slipped in....and later still, Kendon's and Marcus's. ( Was great to visit with a ex- Kansas girl! 😊 Sally is Craig and Johanna's girl from Suncrest. ) For awhile we were 17 up here.... Another late evening of talking and a nap for a night!
Breakfast this morning for 9 and then goodbyes....Vicki and I make eye contact and we laugh and say, I think we could be friends!!!! Another set of new friends! David drives them to La Guardia and upon his return, he was singing as he walked up the stairs! It kind of echoes in the stair well....
Looking forward to Thursday....Rod and Lisa Nace plan to join our clan and also 1 of Spencer's friends from Bridgewater! Have you ever thought of being house Papa's! Fringe benefit, lots of new people in your life!! πŸ˜ƒ
Washer and dryer both silent, not necessarily how it should be yet! Gotta go....later, prayers, hugs and love....Mama Carol
