Stirring up cookie dough, gonna have chicken/ bacon wraps for supper! 😋
Hello from 762 St Nicholas Ave.... What to write about? I guess just our daily.... moments, hours...all rolled into one grateful " I'm happy to be here in NYC, service to our Lord and King! "
Just been Monday all day, nothing negative.... laundry, a little house cleaning, Ron cleaned the " hole" upstairs, where the ladder is to go on the roof....it looked like a mini tornado had touched down and Mama was tired of it! I got up there to help, just as Ron was finishing up!
Supper inspiration comes from a HUGE food donation from the pantry! The guys came home on Friday weighed down....( Then they forgot to tell me for a whole hour, about the food in the basement! ) 4 big bags of French fries, 2 boxes of pizza dough, 3 bags of frozen French pastries, 4 bags of breaded chicken and 2 bags of soggy onion rings. Don't get me wrong....I love onion rings, but this was beyond, so they found a good home! The intentions are SO noble and good....Dede packs it up for the guys....but less would be better! We eat quite a bit, but hey, there are limits!! So I'm fixing wraps this evening for supper....apples with caramel and sun chips and nacho cheese!!
2 of our local attendees are gone now on international trips....Eric Pobee went to London first and then Ghana, his home country. Ellen Brown also went to London to visit her children.
Spencer, Tyson and Roger went on a walking tract tour and have been home for a little while already! David and Shane are at Lincoln. Not home yet... Shane excitedly told Papa this afternoon, that he got his badge!!! Hey, I think he takes the record for the quickest badge getter!! Believe you me, this badge business doesn't come without some frustration!
Nice singing encounters @ Lincoln on Tuesday. Last Monday, Tyson and Shane prayed with a lady and her family in ED, on Tuesday, they wanted to reconnect again with her. So in ICU, we sang a song to her, A very sick unresponsive lady...later meeting the family and they were so thankful! It sounded like maybe she didn't make it.
David was chef on Tuesday evening and he made crepes and bacon, with multiple toppings. Very good!
Wednesday was a fun ladies day!! And I left Ron home to be Mr. Mama and I am so pleased at well he does! I got the laundry started, he finished, including the folding and remaking of the beds! He got the chicken marinating for supper and time for a nap!!! ( Or 2) 😂 Elsie and I met Bernice at Grand Central and caught the Metro North train to Poughkeepsie!! Wonderful, relaxing train ride. Us 3 sat in one seat and talked...got into Poughkeepsie before 11:30, and then walked a short distance to where Bisi and Elizabeth were waiting....and then we waited on Christianah to arrive, the birthday girl!! We ate lunch in a Japanese restaurant called Akari. I had a Hibachi meal which consisted of teriyaki chicken and noodles with veggies. First I had a green salad. Good food! Christianah opened her gifts. Then we walked straight over to Midnight Munchies, which is a bakery and was just next door. We planned to walk the Walkway over the Hudson, so sure did need some sugar energy!!! 😂 They had raw cookie dough balls from which to choose some and then they freshly bake them and bring them to you warm! I ordered a triple chocolate one!!!🫢 Bernice and Elsie each had a cookie also...and Christianah had some apple monkey bread. AND Bisi and Elizabeth refrained all together! Talk about some will power! Then we walked up to the elevator that takes you to this walkway! And that tended to be just a tad scary! Glass front and you go very high! I glanced at Christianah once and her eyes registered a sort of get me out of here!! We walked and once again marveled at God's beautiful world! I can only imagine what those hillsides will look like in fall, with gorgeous colors! Back across, back down the elevator... Bernice had the man give us some interesting facts! It was time for us to buy tickets and return to the train station. So we bid those 3 ladies goodbye and we boarded a train back to Grand Central. All 3 of us took naps, I think! Fun day....it really was! Dayo really appreciated that we came!!! Bible study in the evening. Shane picked a lesson on God's Love....he did well!! Peter was our only attendee! Sing -out and chicken fajitas for supper, alongside we had Mexican rice and refried beans.
Thursday morning was shopping, in the afternoon I did some baking, this time it was Maple twists. Supper was stromboli.... guys hurried off after supper to do some shopping. Macy's, Chelsea Market and I understand they bought some Joey Bats to consume!! Ron and I thought about leaving the house too, but lazy boys called louder!
Friday was just house cleaning, laundry, cooking.... grilled hamburgers for supper. Home in the evening, guys did their cleaning chores. I also made a small batch of strawberry jam.
Saturday morning, we all slept in, then the guys went to play tennis before breakfast....we ate brunch then at 10:45.... Cornbread with sausage gravy and fruit smoothies. We all left the house at noon and caught subway and walked down to Pier 83. We did the 2 1/2 hour circle line tour. Spencer missed out the first time we did it! You can't pick your guides, so we were a tad disappointed....the man we had now....knew his history about NYC also, but in a more boring way!!! 😞 And he took plenty breaks, where he didn't say anything! The first time on circle line, our guide made the trip so worthwhile! It is still good and very relaxing! Once done, we thought we were all starving Marvin's....so we walked to Lazarra's....a pizza place.....you walked up a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant, then down a short hall and into the typical small space of what is common for restaurants in NYC! Good pizza! Rectangle in shape! We ordered 3 and then 2 more!! When we left, Ron and I walked to Penn station and to Anita's for gelato!!!!! 😋 Later it sounded like the guys had gelato also, they needed comforting!!! It's crazy when you turn to food for comfort!! What was disappointing was, Jace Peaster from Hartford was in the city... with his parents and siblings. Jace is from Ballico CA. So of course, Tyson and Shane know them all well. Anyway we were going to meet them for supper...and we couldn't get our times to jive. So we shelved that one...then the boys did meet up with Jace and family and were going to go to One World together and then our guys couldn't get tickets anymore, so that is why they were bummed. So goes it here in the city!
Sunday....a BUSY day.... Lord's day of rest, seems like it might only pertain to the heart and spirit. Definitely not the physical body!!! Breakfast to make, rice to get ready for lunch and it was Bowery Sunday.... Belleville joined us ...they were 9 youth and 3 married couples! David and Brenda Peachey, Jonathan and Kaylyn Peachey and Jerald and Cassidy? Singing just rolled..... opening was by Jonathan, sermon by David P and Papa Isaac added....6 from Poughkeepsie and 4 locals. Lunch was creamy chicken Italian over rice, green salad, applesauce Jello and fruit salad....bread too. 2 different kinds of cake for dessert! Pumpkin and then a coconut cake. In the afternoon we sang in the tunnel, subway station....out of 42nd. Singing went so good and we had so many stop and listen, take video's and show interest!! It was heart warming to say the least. Maybe not as many takers for tracts.....on to Bowery....10 songs and Kendon gave his thoughts, were good! Came on home, visited with Belleville yet, before they pulled out for home..... their almost 4 hours home. Then we had to decide what to do for supper... neither Kaitlyn or I made anything.....and we were all tired...AND then finally Ron suggested Dinosaur BBQ and we were all down.....Ron made reservations for 7:15 and we walked and also caught a subway train....oh, it's a restaurant, like maybe back at home style!!!! 🫢 Food was good!!! Fun watching Thomas eat a chicken drumstick! All of a sudden, huge commotion.... security was up at the bar..... trying to persuade a drunk man that he now could leave the restaurant, it got a bit rough, he refused? Anyway security grabbed him, did the drunk man punch security? It ended up with drunk man being tossed to floor, beer flying on floor, splashing a tad on a patron of the restaurant, which made him mad and loud shouting and accusing....some where in there the security mans shirt was taken off! All of us sat spellbound!!! They finally marched the drunk man out the door!!!! Mopped up floor and soon normal resumed, where chaos had been! On home... Thomas wanted to take the bus and so we did!!! All 10 of us sat in 1 area of the bus, across from each other....Thomas on the boys lap....we sang aloud The Wheels On The Bus go round and round and other verses and actions! Thomas was in his prime with a priceless facial expression!!!! Back to a train to finish the trip and the long annoying 2 stair cases to get out of the D station....you try it when you are 61 and already had a day!!!!😂 Put together tracts, Rogers came up and helped....good time of visiting! The hour got late and it was 12:20 when I laid down!!!!
Everyone is home, some cookies ate and I should seriously be getting to supper after awhile!
So long and love to all the readers! Mama Carol
