Papa Isaac says, " Oh, my dear people!" I just love that gentle shepherd, Father approach...

Hello! My day has been busy, fast approaching later afternoon....in between laundry loads, I will at least start this! Ron, Jordan and Spencer went on a tract route to Yonkers today. They were home for a late lunch at home! Usually doesn't happen, so was thankful that Elsie shared her white BBQ chicken from yesterday with me! Alex and David went to Lincoln and they are not home yet.... spaghetti and meat sauce for supper! Texas toast and green beans....Dana also left her ice cream dessert here, so Rogers and us sharing that too!
Impressed with a quote I noticed on status:
pray twice
if you catch yourself judging someone, pray twice. once for the person you are judging and once for God to change how you react to something you have never walked. make this a practice. wear it out, until it feels automatic. then watch your heart soften for a world that doesn't always think the way you do. you don't have to understand someone in order to love them. wash.rinse.and repeat as needed.

We sure enjoyed Doug, Lisa, Lindsay, Abby, Becky, Bennett and Kristen Fast. They are Spencer's family and we have once again, put another family into our good friends/ glad to meet you book! They arrived Thursday shortly after lunch and left this morning....and many good times in-between!!!
I last wrote on Monday, June 30...so I guess I'm ready for Tuesday, July 1....
Lincoln day, for Ron and I.... singing with the boys! We met, Angel our cop friend, by the front door...he was talking with Alex and David. After a bit he was kind of whispering to them....and laughing and then he told us too....a ladies water broke that morning right inside the front entrance, and he hollered on the radio for the rapid response team!!! He wasn't so sure about delivering the baby right there!!!! πŸ₯ΊπŸ˜‚ Didn't have the best of luck....so many patients were sleeping and then the fire alarm started shrieking....it was pulled in a operating room, but until it was checked out....we all just stood there! But we also did some singing and touching a few lives. In the evening was Bowery men's service. Rogers, unit guys and we 2 left the house at 6. Bible study and discussion was on Firm Foundations. Supper was eaten at Da Gennaro.....a favorite place. Food did not disappoint! It rained for most of the evening....so for some of us, the umbrella's were our trusty friend! BUT for 4 young men, they had no umbrellas, until David stepped into a shop and bought one for $20 bucks!! We were on our way home AND we stopped at a ice cream place!!! The classy kind, like you are seated at a table and the gelato came out in little silver dishes with paper doilies on the plate!! I got a salted caramel gelato, which tasted oddly like coffee!
Wednesday evening was Bible study....Alex led the discussion and also chose the lesson, Freedom in Christ. Eric Pobee and DeDe were the attendees. Sing out.   It went fairly well! ( Supper that evening was lazy tacos with toppings. Peas and apple slices completed the meal.)  The discussion was lively and very interesting!
Thursday was shopping day! It went well!! Spencer's family arrived shortly after lunch and Spencer came home for lunch and met with them and they were off on the city. I just warmed up lazy tacos with toppings for Spencer, as that is what we had too. Thursday evening we were just 5....Ron grilled and smoked brats....I also made a pasta salad....in the afternoon, I also stirred up dough for cinnamon rolls. In the evening, we were just more or less home.... Justin, Robin and Clay met Rogers for supper and then were outside on the front steps....so the guys and us visited too. Then Rogers and Justin's went inside for chocolate and popcorn....( Imagine that!!) Ron and I took a walk....we struck off north this time.... walked by 1 lady who was just talking and yelling to anyone that would listen and to even those who didn't listen!!! We say they have altered minds!! Guys went down town for awhile.... after work, they took the van and went to a ladies house and if they carried this rowing machine down 1 flight of stairs, they could have it!! So they got a rowing machine for the gym in the basement!! They work with this lady at 109 pantry. She just had been using the rowing machine to hang clothes on!!! They also did some weeding for her.... and left the little weed piles for her to pick up...they didn't know what to do with the pulled weeds!!!! I guess they didn't ask for a trash bag!!! πŸ˜‚
( I hope this letter doesn't sound too disconnected, because my life today feels disconnected! In between feeding the washer and dryer and forgetting about them...the last load is in the dryer and all beds are remade!  Until tomorrow night....Roger and Elsie's children, Jed and Kathryn are coming for night tomorrow night, on their way home from a Mississippi trip. So they will occupy 4th guest quarters! Our spare room will be silent until Thursday night!! Also there was supper to make and also there was songs to practice, and dishwasher to unload, load, do some dishes and so I'm back!! )
Guys flew around after supper and left for Macy's. One guy this afternoon checked his bank account and was happy to report more money in there then he thought!!!! So this we go shopping!!!! πŸ˜‚
We are ready for July 4th! Ron and I made breakfast for the Fast family and then they left for a day on the city!! Our other 3 guys wanted to sleep in, and so we let them!! One was up shortly after 9:30 and got his breakfast, the next one was up at 11:30 and got his own breakfast and the 3rd one was up at noon and got his breakfast and by then Papa and Mama were thinking of lunch!!!!! πŸ˜‚ We had done laundry and given the house a lick and a promise on house cleaning! Well the laundry wasn't quite done.... guys left the house and Ron and I did mid afternoon....met the guys at Los Tacos for a 6:00 supper and then made our way down to Pier 35 and FDR drive. The fireworks show only started at 9:15-9:30, but needed to secure a place!!! We walked and walked with lots of other humans! Had a police check point....3 times, we had to show the contents of our back packs to the police! So we chose a place underneath the Manhattan bridge on FDR drive and then waited and waited! At least it wasn't so hot! Spencer and his family found us also, so we were all together!! The 4 barges that held fireworks were in the water just beyond Brooklyn Bridge. Macy's put the show on..... and it was phenomenal!!!!! Huge colorful fireworks!!!! My words won't be able to describe them! My favorite was when the fireworks just "rained" off of Brooklyn Bridge and stayed lit and danced on the water!!!! Lasted about 20 minutes.....then this sea of humanity had to move and get going.....it was very organized and everything thought through. We all just moved in kind of a forward motion, all together! Finally made our way back to a subway and arrived home late! Well worth all of it!!! Jordan absolutely loves fireworks, so he was somewhere in his all together enthused frame of mind!!!!! Fireworks which are illegal in the city, continued to go off long into the night! And every night since and before also!
Saturday.....Doug made breakfast! French toast and sausage!! Yum!! They were off to Liberty Island and Ellis Island for the day! We super enjoyed the circle line tour that us 5 took in!!! We sat outside on top deck and had David as our guide. ( Not our David!! πŸ˜„) He was crazy from the word go....but kept all of us entertained the whole time!!! We heard alot of history of all the boroughs etc. awesome way to spend a Saturday afternoon!! Met the Fast family at Francus Tavern for supper....( Oh by the way, circle line tour is 2 1/2 hours long. ) Ron and I came on home, wasn't feeling the best and ended up with a migraine!!
Sunday morning, we were 13 at the table again....baked oatmeal and cinnamon rolls....I also prepared 9# of " wedding" potatoes and not a potato was left!! We were 35 or so for lunch.... nice group of attendees and Poughkeepsie's turn to come! After lunch, Ron and I changed clothes and stayed home all afternoon! And we took naps and did this and that! Clay's and our 3 boys ( the Fast's were doing their own thing) they walked the High Line from Hudson Yards to Chelsea Market. Dana fixed chicken tacos and fresh homemade tortillas. Good supper and fun evening!! Back to worship service, Doug had the opening and Papa Isaac the sermon!
I actually got this finished!!! Yeah!!
It's been a good week and we fall headlong into another busy week!
Elmer and Mary Ellen come tomorrow.... orientation for David and supper together! Looking forward to that all. Made a pan of bars today already for tomorrow evening and froze them!!
I'm feeling a lot closer to goodnight.....
Love and prayers, Mama Carol
