Walking in the rain ☔
Hello and cheerful greetings to each and everyone!
Another gray and rainy day in the city!! Seeing the sun wouldn't be all bad!
This morning was " shop' morning!! The van was parked at BTM, so we walked to 145th and caught a bus! Shopping went swift and good, so didn't feel like we spent so much time shopping today! Had leftovers for lunch and now this afternoon is more relaxing, after a crazy busy week. I have supper planned.... gonna make chimi's out of some roast beef, that has been blessed 2 times already!
We want to listen to Southern Ohio, Cayden's class is going to be singing and then some program practice. Cayden graduates this year. I'm happy that Cayden's other Grandpa's got to go!
I will have to chase our thoughts back to Monday, May 12.... Tribeca service in the evening, we got turned ( or something) when exiting the subway and so approached Tribeca different then usual. We walked down some sleazy sidewalks, was really glad we had men with us ladies! Usual service there....sang 10 songs and Jordan had the thoughts. We went to Da Gennaro for supper, sat outside to eat and enjoyed the super good food!! Grabbed the B train and came on home!
Tuesday, May13 - Ron and I went out for breakfast, went down town and this time we looked up Ess-a-bagel.. yummy good! Had bagels loaded with flavored cream cheese. After breakfast, we went to JPT, the print shop and ordered more hoodies and t- shirts. Next stop was REI, Ron wanted to look at short sleeve shirts, there wasn't hardly any selection of shirts and the price tag caused us to leave all shirts there and go home! ( Ron ordered some and is happy with them!) Singing at Lincoln and the rest of the afternoon at home. It was Wade's turn to cook and he chose to take me/us to Paulie Gee's for pizza!! ( For my birthday) Aren't they just the best!!!? We ordered 3 pizza's and practically inhaled those, so 3 more were ordered?!! Then we were full! My favorite pizza place!!
Wednesday, May 14- my 61st birthday π I had a lovely birthday! All the birthday wishes, I got lots of them!! By the time evening rolled around, I was almost glad the day was almost over!!! The guys wouldn't hardly let me do anything!!!! π They were almost ridiculous with helping Mama!! Got to love those crazy boys though!?! πAND they gave me a gift π.......a new purse π!!!!! It's a joke with my purses and back packs..how many different ones I have! They visited with Ron on the phone, about what color, kind...clutch, shoulder bag or a tote.... they did a super job, buying it at Macy's at backstage!!! It's a off white purse, with the softest leather, I love it! Moments like these are priceless! ( We had thought about going to Newark to see Ashlyn Wenger, but she had only about 3 hours, and with customs and all, we scraped it! We would had about 30 or more minutes both ways..in traffic! Hard decision to not go though! She was on her way home from Mozambique....her mother was somewhat jealous, if we would see her first!) Bible study in the evening, Spencer had the lesson on stumbling blocks. His very first Bible study, and he did super! Sing out....had easy BBQ chicken over rice...Tony came up and he brought a strawberry cheesecake with him!!! Jordan cut the cheese cake and since we had no candles, he lit 2 toothpicks!!! I got Happy birthday songs sung, grandchildren messaged....Megz messaged and wanted Maeli to sing, but she told her Mom, that she had the hiccups and couldn't sing!!! π€£
Thursday, May15- Stacy from HR at Lincoln, wondered if the boys could come and help with a event from 10-12. Well no the boys needed to be at Common Pantry, so Clay's and Ron and I decided too! We walked to Lincoln and the event was out on the patio! And the event was a baby shower!!! Can you imagine how awkward the boys might have felt!!!! πAll decorated with pink, blue and beige balloons, a huge teddy bear, confetti on tables, a DJ.....all the pregnant ladies who plan to deliver at Lincoln were invited.... must have been over 100 hundred people there, as husbands/ boy friends were also there! Our job was to hand a program to every lady who entered!!! Clays went and stood by the front door and directed the ladies to the right spot. Once all ladies had registered, they had speeches, gifts and lots of them and big gifts, like strollers and pack and plays.... boxes of diapers and lots more. Played a game where 4 Dads went up and with 1 hand behind their backs, put a diaper on a baby doll laying on the table.... with just one hand! The winning Dad held his doll in the air AND I suppose got a surprise!
When done with gifts, we helped hand out cake! Then our job was done! What a entertaining way to spend Thursday morning!! The afternoon hours were spent with shopping π and BJ's had plenty of carts!!!! Truly a surprise!! Home for the evening!! Lovely!
Friday, May 16- just a normal work day at home!! Nothing silly, dire or crazy happened! All 4 guys got haircuts this week and 1 boy looked like a new boy!! π€©
Saturday, May 17- Guys left for the day and went to the Met of Art....we were home some, went to Central Park and people watched! Oh my.. entertaining! Our guys met the Hartford Connecticut unit, well the guys...at Julianna's and then went to get gelato yet. That is the evening the Mexican vessel run into Brooklyn Bridge... Julianna's isn't far away.... but the guys were out of the area by then! Ron and I did our own thing...Los Tacos and gelato...... when we headed to Penn station on the subway....6 young men got on, by the appearance their clothes, they were headed to a game. But drunk doesn't get it!! It got quite noisy and basically they acted worse than children!!! Lo and behold they got off at Penn station too, we soon lost them in the crowd. One time that it would have been tempting to call MTA or the police!
Sunday, May 18- ( Rogers took Eric Pobee to Fleetwood for the weekend. The Fleetwood staff had a visit with Eric and we were thrilled to hear that they gave Eric their confidence!) so we were a small bunch of 20 people! We had a new attendee, only he used to come all the time before Covid. His name is Al Hermon. Jordan had the SS opening and Kendon brought the sermon. His thoughts were around The Guiding Light. We sang 5 songs before service started.... asked to sing the last song again....1 lady declared that if she had to listen to the song again, she would help sing!! π After the closing song, the song, Guiding Light was sung.... lunch was roast beef and potatoes, all drug from the freezer from a previous noon lunch. After lunch and dishes, we got ready to leave on our picnic! Clays, Kendon's, Tony and Shelly, Laurence and Bernice and us 6. Kendon's and Clay's drove and Tony's went with Clay's. The rest of took subway and then the Metro.....we were all stoked with the scenery and getting out of the city!!! We went to Kingsland Point Park. Had a wonderful time! Grilled hamburgers for supper, with pasta salad, watermelon and grapes, chips and mock Oreo cookies. Right by the Hudson, cool and yet refreshing! Lighthouse... Tarrytown bridge... Good Friends, makes good memories! One scary moment, no one could find Thomas all of a sudden....so we all fanned out and searched....I went towards the parking lot and a couple motioned to me and asked if the little boy in the dusty orange was ours! I said yes and took off running...he was just aimlessly walking and seemed very unconcerned! All were happy that Thomas was found and Tony said, Thank you God! πThe boys and us walked back to Tarrytown to board the Metro! It was so awesome! The Tarrytown bridge with its light, the river...we sat down there a long time and soaked it all in. Back to the apartment at 762 St Nicholas Ave!! Had picnic stuff to put away and off to bed.
Monday, May 19- Elmer and Mary Ellen came for supper and Spencer's orientation! Rogers were included and we were 10 for supper! Ron grilled bacon beef roll ups, I added green salad, baked great northern beans potatoes. Mary Ellen brought dessert, rhubarb bars. Yum....us ladies organized more for Papa Isaac's retirement party.
Tuesday, May 20- we had company stop in.... Austin Toews and Mary Litwiller from MICHIGAN, Mariah Ensz from Greensburg and Jordan and Mattie from Kingsville Ontario. Nice friendly bunch! Austin and Jordan had been to the city, but none of the gals. Ron went back downtown to JPT to get said clothing that was done. Singing at Lincoln....one guy just followed us in his wheelchair, liked the singing so much and appreciated the tract. He lives close to Sugar Hill by Convent. On our walk home, we stopped by Dollies, a meat market. Ron bought steaks for supper. Doug, Lisa and Lindsay Fast stopped by the unit for supper and night. They are Spencer's parents and sister. Lindsay taught at Farwell and enroute home to Maine. Ron grilled steaks, I added baked potatos and Texas toast....we also invited Rogers and Elsie and she brought salad and strawberry shortcake....yum...had a good evening!
Wednesday, May 21- Fixed breakfast for unit and Doug's... guys off to work and Doug's stayed to chat awhile yet....we like them!! Normal day of work.... Bible study in the evening... lesson was on the valley of the shadow of death....Wade was leader....then sing out and then supper! I fixed Fiesta lime chicken last evening, veggies with ranch and hot buttered bread. Outshine fruit bars for dessert. Eric and Alistair were the attendees.
Oh, this got long....bear with me!!
My love and prayers, Mama Carol
