We sing our praise to you, O God of majesty!
Our grateful and thankful hearts rise in praise to our great God! We thank Him for Rod's successful cancer tumor removal surgery on February 26!! The outcome was better than we hardly dared to pray for! Rod, Megz and Maeli are back home in Sequim, having spent several days in Seattle. Fred and Denise are there with them, for which we are glad.
My heart is also happy and thankful for my successful laser cataract eye surgery. I'm excited about the future of my eye sight.....and it is fun to see things anew and in a fresh new way, instead of a gray film and dimness!! ☺️
Good day! Nice sunny day in the city! From Mama's chair, she is watching 3 of her boys peer at late Valentine's Day card, addressed to the unit boys.... it's a prank card, but who from? They are doing detective work....❤️
Had a fun Monday! Phil & Meloni Holdeman from Russellville AK have spent several days here visiting Trevor their son. We have super enjoyed them! Getting acquainted with them, talking lots and making new friends and memories!! Anyway, Phil, Ron, Trevor and Jordan went on a tract tour today and Meloni and I did house work! I have restrictions from my eye surgery, like not lifting more then 10# and no bending....try that for 2 weeks!! So Meloni helped me with the laundry, she cleaned 4th guest quarters and re- made the bed. Thanks so much! ❤️ And we visited and she signed books! For lunch, the 4 guys came home....I was just gonna have leftovers and quesadillas for lunch, with Meloni and I.....we still did!! 🙈 No- one seemed to mind! Guys had just left the coffee shop, so probably weren't hungry! 😂 Trevor took them back to the airport and we are just us 6 again...for several days. Right now, they are picking songs for Wednesday evening sing out. Supper is at home and evening is at home!
Tuesday the 25th, eye surgery for me! We took the mission van, it was about a 20-25 minute drive from our apartment. Ron was wondering, will we find a parking space? But God was helping, we just turned the corner and Ron says, there is 1 space! He wheeled up, put on the flashers and parked! A nice surgery center! I was taken to 3rd floor and Ron was to wait on 5th floor. He also visited a coffee shop, while waiting. I was given so many eye drops, numbing and who knows? Laser surgery was first, then taken to a OR room. Never put out, just in twilight zone... very relaxed! When done, I was wheeled out of OR and given Lorna Doo cookies to eat and a bottle of water to drink. Given discharge instructions, the man was wearing a mask and I have a hard time understanding some of these people anyway, but he assured me that all instructions would be also written down. ( The only time during surgery, where I suffered a little claustrophobia feeling, was when they covered my entire face with a cloth....I had oxygen flowing, so I had to tell myself just to chill. ) I could take the eye patch off, once we got home. I have to wear it each night, so I don't rub it, involuntary. Ron and I had a quiet afternoon and evening. Roger, Elsie and the guys went to a rehab place to sing for a man, they got acquainted with at the hospital. Then they went out for supper....to Jake's, a nice steak restaurant. Understand they stopped for ice cream at Burger King before coming home!! ☺️
Wednesday, just a normal day at home! Although Ron and I did take a walk. We also stopped at Domino's to order 4 pizza's for supper after sing-out. Lesson was on Contentment. Locals were Eric, Tony and DeDe. Tony was the only person who came upstairs for supper. Like I mentioned, it was Domino's pizza, Elsie brought green salad up and Dana made a yummy Oreo brownie dessert.
Thursday...in the morning, I had Dr's appointment for a post op. Dr. declared all was well and everything was excellent! He sent me several doors down and around the corner to Optic Express and I ordered new glasses! My left lense is a blank! Exciting! Waiting for new glasses to get here!! Back to the Dr....I MUST put eye drops in 4 times a day until March 27!! 2 different kinds, 5 minutes apart....can get complicated, just saying! We went shopping after lunch and Rogers helped us put away and carry up. Phil and Meloni came, Trevor and his parents left for supper and evening. The rest of us were home.
Friday, Phil and Meloni joined us for breakfast, then out to explore the city! We had laundry and house cleaning....Ron makes a perfect maid! He did most of it...the bend part of it anyway. Ron and I took a long walk in the afternoon.....from 145th to 125th, got cash at Chase, then walked back, perfect weather for that. We were walking hand in hand, this lady says, it looks like love 💕!! Wade's turn for supper... grilled hamburgers, French fries and green salad! Jordan and Ron grilled the burgers and onions and toasted the buns.....some got rather toasty! Ron brewed some ice tea! 🤫 Later evening I mixed up vanilla ice cream in the Cuisinart and some of us had coke floats and 1 ate his ice cream with Oreos. I made it with A2 milk, so Jordan could eat it without issues and he declared himself too full!
Roger and Elsie left on Friday for Maine. They are taking a week furlough + a couple more days.
Saturday, ate breakfast at 9, guys did cleaning chores, then headed to New Jersey to play disc golf. Had a enjoyable day, was the report. Ron and I cooked Sunday lunch...123 BBQ meat balls, for interest sake, had only about 12 left! Plus a few too dark ones!! I did 2 pans of corn flake potatoes and made the sauce for meatballs. Dishes, lunch and then we went to Central Park and walked for awhile....nice day, although it did turn cooler again. Naps and baked a pan of bars. Met Phil's and Trevor at Julianna's for supper, all 8 of us! After supper, we did go to Anita's yet.. for gelato!! ( In the afternoon, lots of humanity also went to Central Park, it was crowded with walkers, bikers, joggers, strollers, horse and carriage....)
Sunday, morning off, for breakfast anyway! Meloni and Trevor made breakfast..... blueberry muffins, from a Jiffy mix and then Meloni fried corn tortillas, put refried beans on, bacon and shredded cheese. Topped with a fried eggs. Super good! I did help her clean up kitchen. Best thing about the morning was....well there were several! DeDe came.... early and she came upstairs and she was wearing a black dress, black dress shoes and dark hose....she looked stunning and I told her how beautiful she was and we hugged! Only later, to also realize she was wearing a cap head covering!!! She got another hug from me! I guess it looked so natural on her, that at first I didn't notice!!! 4 girls joined us for worship....one was Katelyn Troyer from Kidron, Ken and Linda's girl....she looked like her mother! Alexa and Chenelle ? Stan and Marilyn Ensz 's grand daughters. And I forgot the name of the 4th, but she is Brian and Nan's girl from SD. So that was fun...they chose not to stay for lunch though. Poughkeepsie came.... Phil's were here.... singing, opening song, SS opening by Rueben, SS...I taught Josh and Olivia...our lesson was on Daniel and the lions den. Phil brought the sermon...it was so good! The gospel is simple, we make it complicated!! Live today with God. He is now, the I AM! Don't worry about the future.... Olivia sat with me all morning and all of a sudden Ron was tapping me on the shoulder.... Olivia and I followed him down stairs and one of the pans of meatballs broke in the oven!!! A whole corner fell off! Lunch was BBQ meat balls, potato's, green salads and buns. ( The pan was a wedding gift for Laurence and Bernice and she donated it to the mission, so some 42 years old! ) Dessert was lavender white cake, delish....and my monster cookie bars. We had thought Tony was bringing cheesecake....but he didn't! I'm glad I baked bars, for plan B. Clean-uo and then Phil's, Alistair, Eric and us visited till 4. Kendon's, Clay's and 3 boys went to St Patrick's Cathedral and to the Lego store. Trevor and his folks did their own thing. We napped... Kaitlyn 's turn for supper...she made French bread pizza, Dana brought veggies and Kaitlyn made a ranch dip and also brought hummus. Leftover cake and bars for dessert. Poker was played....at 9, we tuned into Swalwell and listened to Jesse's report! Plus another guy brought a report of Paradise CA. ( Dallas ) Enjoyed Jesse's report! Kendon's went home after 8:30... Clay's stayed to listen.... Trevor and Phil's came home to listen also. It was after midnight, when our lights went out!
Alrighty, it's supper time....Phil had devotions this morning, we are only happy and free, when we are doing what God wants....or where he wants us to be!! He prayed... give us eyes to see, ears to hear....the cry of a soul! Amen!!
Till next week, love Mama Carol
