I saw God washed the world last night, grateful for the rain!
Hello to all ! It's a gray day in the city! We had rain, which indeed made our hearts happy! This city needs it's streets and sidewalks washed every so often!
Ron and I were both napping after lunch, when there was a knock - knock at the door. It was Elsie, Fed Ex was here with numerous boxes of tracts. Wondered if Ron wanted to come take care of them? There is a puddle where usually Fed Ex would leave them. ( Inside our gate and down a few stairs) Roger is with Trevor and Dexter on tract route today.
Oh my, our oldest daughter LaNae and her husband were briefly in NYC and we didn't see them!! They are at JFK, boarded the plane for Dallas.Annual meeting bound....got rerouted this morning, when they found out they would have a long delay in waiting for their original flight. So close and yet no see. If they would have had a longer layover, it would have been awful tempting to go to JFK. Although, I think we are a hour or so train ride away!! Best wishes on the rest of their flights!
Doing laundry today, ironed some shirts, made a pan of bars, some house cleaning, trip to Foodtown, which requires a few steps out the front door and back.... supper this evening is grilled bacon burgers, little wedding potatoes, bread and peas! Home this evening, as far as I know.
Really no fault of mine, but I hope this weeks blog, doesn't result in some not being able to open it, due to blocked filters....I honestly am trying to live my Christian life up here on 3rd floor, and not dabbling in what the blocked filter said!!! 🤪
Going back to last week, busy, much going on and to think about. Monday evening the 10th was Tribeca service....Clay and Dana joined us. Sang 5 songs, Roger had thoughts about Home and Jesus standing at the door, wanting you to come in. Sang another 5 songs. After we left we walked to a Thailand restaurant, but a line was waiting outdoors and some overheard, there was a hours wait. So we walked on, to Little Italy and ate at La Vieta Belle. I had cheese ravioli in tomato and basil sauce, I was stuffed, or so I thought! We walked to Gentile Gelato yet and bought some of what they had to offer!!!
Tuesday, my morning off, it truly is like a slice of paradise!!! Worked around the house, Ron and I attacked the hole under the stairs and which houses the ladder to go up onto the roof! It needed some TLC and boys noticed it was DONE and thanked us, so blessings enough!! To Lincoln hospital to sing with the boys.... most of the patients ( that we asked)wanted a Gospel hymn sung to them, the one man said why not?? One young man also requested a prayer, his name was Justin and Trevor prayed a nice prayer, and we all bowed our heads, just right inside his room door! My eye glasses were in, so Ron and I jumped on a train and went to get them! I am enjoying so much, how well I am able to see!!!! I got plastic frames this time and am adjusting to them! The one " arm" gets me behind the ear!!! It was Jordan's turn to cook and he did a shrimp boil! He cooked and boiled downstairs in the kitchen/ fellowship hall. We all went outside and down after awhile.... Papa, Dexter, Wade and Trevor played corn hole for awhile...we just spread the vinyl tablecloth on the tables, got red Solo cups out and paper towels for napkins and Jordan spilled the food down the center of the table. Shrimp, crawfish and sausage.... corn on the cob, potato's and veggies....was some mighty fine eating! I never did try the crawfish though, I have before and it seems like a lot of work for so little meat!! To twist their head etc.
Wednesday evening, Bible study, lesson was on temptation. Trevor wrote it.... Eric and Alistair were the attendees besides Clay's, boys, Roger and us. Elsie had a bout with illness last week that laid her low. We all sang this time for sing out.... besides Rogers. Clay's came early to practice. Supper was in our house, Santa Fe Chicken Chili, carrots and cucumbers, cheese and Red Lobster biscuits. Lemon bars for dessert. Just 8 of us.... when I didn't know what to have for supper, Dexter threw out this Chili idea!
Thursday....Ron left mid morning and met Roger and then they went to some building trade show.....so Ron gone for some of the day....I baked French bread.... supper was waffles, sausage and toppings. ( Roger and Ron had burgers for lunch at place called 5 Napkins Burgers.
Friday, I knew before I got out of bed, that it would be a busy day.... laundry, cleaning the house and shopping!!! Got it all done!! Guys came home from Bronx Pantry, I think it was 3:30...and they hadn't had lunch yet. It is something else to see 4 blue shirted boys taking over the fridge and kitchen and eating and eating! Keep in mind this is 4:00 already! Ron made smash burgers for supper, with French fries and carrots. I also made some homemade ice cream in the Cuisinart freezer for dessert! They boys thought Papa should start a restaurant!! But with the late lunch, stomachs got full fast! Oh, I had cut up Kit-Kat candy bars to put in the ice cream. Guys did cleaning chores after supper.
Saturday was a FUN day.... first of all, want to say that the boys all slept out on the roof! Wade did come in at 2!! Started to mist on them. The amount of food and drinks that went up with them was amazing!! Okay back to Saturday, up at our usual morning time, 6:30!! Breakfast at 8, French toast and bacon. Got on the road for New Jersey by 9:15. Clay's went too, in fact passed us on the interstate....all of a sudden this honking....now honking in the city is all the time, but this seemed unusual. It was Clay and Dana, with a Kansas license tag.... McPherson county! Now that seems like home to me!! Got to Kendon's and he hustled to change car seats over from one van to the next..the guys, all 7 of them jumped into Kendon's Gospel tract van and us 3 ladies and 2 children went in Sugar Hills van, Kaitlyn at the wheel! The guys played 2 disc golf courses and ate lunch out! I was right proud of my hubby, I was told at the supper table, that Papa Ron aced a basket! Jordan told me, it looked like it was going be so close and then it clunked the chains and went in!!! Cheers! Anyway, the women and children went to 3 thrift stores, a Joann's, as they are having good closing sales, to Panera bread for lunch and a coffee shop in the afternoon! And I bought at all 3 thrift stores, a few things for the unit kitchen, more measuring cups and a small platter, as I broke a platter earlier in the week. We drove in at Kendon's, right behind the men, they had been stalking us and knew where we were...never thought to check on them! Kaitlyn fixed coconut chicken tika masala and naan for supper! Some really good eating, plus fresh baked cookies. Olivia and Thomas did really well all day with us ladies! The best part about the evening was: after supper, around the table, Trevor and Dexter started singing old children's school songs etc. Kaitlyn got them 2 books and soon we were all joining in and doing actions too!! It was so much fun and to see the pure delight in Olivia and Thomas's eyes, they shone with perfect wonder, and Olivia sang along! She was often found on Dexter's lap, while singing! Thomas stood on a little bench right between Dexter and Trevor and it was priceless! Memories we have made, they will last a lifetime!!! Said goodbye and had about a hours drive home yet. Ron and I peeled a 10# bag of potatoes yet....hit the bed... exhausted and couldn't get to sleep!!! I finally got up after 2:00 am and studied the SS lesson and looked outside for awhile....the city never sleeps, so people to watch.
Sunday... Baked oatmeal for breakfast, cooked and mashed 10# of potatoes and got ready for church! Poughkeepsie came.... plus Alistair, Eric, Tony and Ellen. Papa Isaac had the sermon, he spoke on the subject of " anger". He told us, his dear people, that if we let anger have a chair to sit on in our hearts, we have some work to do!! Lunch was roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green salads and butter horns. Peanut butter pie in a pan and apple pie with ice cream. After lunch and dishes, most of us put tracts together for Bowery Sunday. After that was done, Kendon, Clay and boys played Scotland Yards game, only for real!! Wade was the guy who was running and the rest went to find him! This was done only on the subway system and rules were to stay in Manhattan. Trevor spied Wade on a platform....and game was over!! Kaitlyn and Dana went to a coffee shop and got drinks. Thomas was asleep in our spare room and Papa and Olivia colored for a long time, she did say she would take a nap with Papa, which never happened!!!😊later she played with her dolls and covered herself up on the couch, but never quite made it to dreamland!! I fixed supper, was my turn...I made pigs in a blanket, ham, pickle and cheese skewers, tapioca salad, mostly for Trevor's benefit....he loves it and ended up cleaning out the bowl with a big spoon! Dana brought carrots and cucumbers... plus we had some podded peas in the fridge, from what Dexter brought home from the pantry. Leftover dessert from lunch, the guys brought Joey Bats home from Grand Central and with the leftover crescent roll dough, I made a few surprise desserts, like think candy stuck in them!! Everyone was tired, so couches and lazy boys were full after supper!!! Full of lazy folks!!!
Jordan and Wade are home from Lincoln, haven't seen the tract boys!! Ron is trying to fix the pellet grill....
I heard the dryer quit, with the last load for today.
So till next week, courage and strength to be about the Fathers business!!
Love as always, Mama Carol
