And Papa Isaac said, look back on the old year and change, where you did wrong!

Hello to all my dear family and friends! Life is good in NYC... although definitely the honeymoon stage is mostly over! Life is life and work is work, but we have so many enjoyable times in-between! And there is so much joy in the journey!
I have had a busy day at home, lots of laundry, ironed 3 shirts for the hubby, cleaned some in our apartment and also upstairs on 4th guest quarters. The 2 pair of bed sheets for 4th are in the dryer. Baked a batch of granola and have supper to make after awhile. With eating @ 7, afternoons are loooong!
Ron just walked in, Jesse, Wade and Ron went on tract route today. This morning they serviced routes in a Bronx area and did hand-outs this afternoon. But being a holiday and cold outside, the volume of people out and about is way down!!
Back to last Monday, we left the apartment by 6, unit and Roger and Elsie. Headed to Tribeca for service. A nice group showed up, some or most of the group seems so sincere. We sang 5 songs, then Ron brought the thoughts, about miracles and bringing the broken pieces to Jesus. We sang 5 more songs and some join right in. Visited with a few...and headed out to find some supper! This evening we dined at Jack's Wife Freda!! Interesting eh?? Ron and I shared a sirloin steak and fries.
Tuesday, my morning off, well actually I didn't cook all day!! 😀 2 of the guys off to Bowery Mission and 2 to Lincoln! Roger and Elsie had things to discuss and we also needed to plan menus, so we went to their apartment for awhile. Ron and I went to Lincoln early, to see if we could talk to Stacey.... about our training. Well we did see her and talk a bit, but got no where! So for lunch, we just munched on a few things we had stuck in our back-pack and met the guys at 1 in the chapel. Enjoyable singing again! We sang for a family that their loved one has just passed. One of our favorite nurses came out of the employee lounge, and wanted a song. She was asked, which one? Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, was her reply! And then she sings along.... Trevor's turn to cook, so he chose steak...New York strip, Caesar salad and garlic bread. Papa helped him with the steak and I answer some questions....😋 And then he built dessert yet.... chocolate upside down cake!! Only we never ate it that evening, we all said, too full!! Guys spent the evening, picking and practicing songs.
Wednesday morning and afternoon, Ron and I listened to Kelly Nightingales funeral service and memories. It worked great, because we were just home working. In the evening was Bible study, only attendee was Eric. Lesson was on Joy. Had a good discussion. Sing- out and then Rogers and Clay's came up for supper. I had fixed chicken fajita soup over rice and toppings. Fruit salad and mock Oreos.
Thursday, shopping day for Ron and I and guys to the pantry!! Target and BJ's.... relaxed some, ate lunch at the house and went to a Eye Center and Surgery. Long story, but right before we came to NYC, and no time to take care of it at home....I found out the cataract I have needs to be taken care of. So we goggled up eye surgeons, checked their ratings etc, checked for location and in faith made a appointment! Ron and I were both pleased with the Dr. A white older gentleman, we liked him. I had lots of tests and yes I am a perfect candidate for laser surgery. So surgery is set up for February 25. I need to have a pre- op visit with my PCP, and I don't have a primary care provider, so need to check if a City MD will do that for me! We walked the mile home from the appointment. We had jumped on Subway to go....
In the evening was a worship/ praise service at the Bowery for chapel volunteers. We left the house at 6, some subways weren't running, because of some signal problems...so walked a ways from our apartment even to get on, then walked and walked in stations, arriving a little after 7, the appointed hour. Our boys were later still, having got hung up in subway chaos earlier. Pizza, green salad and breads, assorted cookies was our supper at Bowery. The evening consisted of, some singing, a devotional, testimonies. One testimony was by a man who had been homeless, went through the Bowery program, got a job. Was very inspirational! A group picture, then everyone got a gift, a Bowery mug! Home, we invited Rogers up for Trevor's chocolate upside down cake and I also sliced some cheese!
Friday, Ron went with the guys to the pantry, home by noon. I had house cleaning and laundry. Ron swept and wet mopped the floors!! Boys did their house chores Just had supper at the house and were home all evening!
Saturday, breakfast was at 9! Boys left by 10 or so ! They took water taxi clear down to Rockaway, rode the air train, were around JFK airport etc. Ron and I went downtown to JPT, to get the hoodies we had printed. The man wanted us to come back on Saturday to get the hoodies , as he wanted to be there and he was leaving on a weeks vacation. Once home from that, we jumped in Sugar Hill mission van and drove into New Jersey a bit. Ron had been googling Lazy Boy stores and we found it to be a very nice store! For some moments, we could have thought we were back in Wichita KS!!! We even could understand the lady, without asking pardon!!!! We bought 2 new recliners for 3rd floor. The smaller lady like one was in stock, but Ron's is on order. Suppose to be here mid- February. Came back home, oh another thing, they deliver the furniture for a very reasonable fee, so that is what will happen! Up the stairs, if we want the old ones at the curb, they will do that!!! Around 4:30, the door bell rang and it was Elizabeth and Josiah!! They are Rueben and Bisi's children. They work Saturdays at Israel Wengered's market on Roosevelt Island. The children came for supper, night and breakfast. We let them use the guest quarters. The guys came home @7 and we had supper together. I made some green salad and got 3 large Dominos pizzas out of the freezer. At the common Pantry on Friday, Dede got the boys lunch and bought way toooooo many pizzas. She sent it home with the boys! Came in handy, to re-warm. For dessert, I had got out a chocolate chip pizza and some cookies, but Elizabeth had brought a small strawberry - rhubarb pie, it was scrumptious! And some banana bread. She purchased them at the market. Guys played a game later, and Elizabeth and Josiah went upstairs by 8:30 already.
Sunday....it was Poughkeepsie day and also we had 2 young men from Canada in church with us. A Vaughn Penner and Shawn Martin. They were on their own wheels, had stayed in Queens at a hotel. Really they had been to PA for a RC show!! We helped sing, opening to SS was by Rueben and sermon by Papa Isaac. Elsie asked me, if I would teach the childrens SS. It was fun!! Josh is in 4th grade and Olivia is 4!!! So we read out of the preschool book and also the junior book! They answered the questions well! Olivia colored while I read stories and Josh chose to draw!! And he told me he was too old for stickers!! 😃 Josh is also Rueben and Bisi's child. Back to Papa's sermon, he says, my dear people....so many times....a person feels loved by Papa! He told us the Lord told him to look back into last year, the old year and change what you see there that was wrong. Were you kind? Selfish? Did you care? He preached longer than the " thoughts" Sunday! Wasn't used to the 12:00 business! Lunch was creamy meatballs and rice, green salad and breads.....Eric brought some African pastries for dessert, Tony brought cheesecake and Bernice brought chocolate sheet cake.....we were well taken care of on the sweet side of life!!  We numbered around 30 for lunch. Alistair was back....it was rainy, snowy day, so women and children stayed in and home. Guys went out a bit, some to fly RC planes....some to watch. Kaitlyn made supper last evening, tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon jam and Dana brought fruit salad. Kaitlyn also stirred up the some sorbet.... what was the flavor, lavender with some Earl Gray in it???? An intense table game was being played....so they stopped long enough to have table grace and the guys playing, ste as they played!! The rest of us, sat at the other end of the table....we dialed into Hesston and listened to Thomas's report of NYC.... interesting!! Guys sat at table and put together tracts, as they listened. Kendon's left, I think before the service was over and Clay's stayed awhile yet!
Another week is over, more memories made....
The sun rises and sets over this huge vast city, we just never see it! Life goes on, the funny, sad, humorous moments come and go, we love it!
I was home alone today....Roger and Elsie took a little outing to Bear Mountain, be back tomorrow!!
Until next week, love and prayers, Carol
